President's Message
Better service, greater innovation, dedication and inspiration - there are just a few of the ways that Burlodge Canada has made an impact on the Canadian health care market, but these four pillars of success will continue to define our unique brand of business.
Burlodge has been growing its territory in Canada for nearly 20 years now, delivering its distinctive equipment, services and systems, and playing a major role in helping to shape a much improved Canadian health care foodservices industry. Since being established in Canada in October 1990, we’ve steadily grown our name across the country with our state-of-the-art meal delivery equipment, winning the admiration of health care industry experts everywhere. In that time, we’ve secured upwards of 85% of the advanced meal delivery system market in Canada, servicing over 410 clients across the country and counting over 2,500 Burlodge Meal Delivery Systems in use.
Headquartered in Brampton, Ontario, we also now have branch offices in Montreal and Calgary. As we consider the success we’ve experienced to date, we feel as though we’re just beginning to find our stride. Backed by a loyal and energetic staff, our determination to offer the best service and support to our clients is balanced with a drive to consistently be at the forefront of innovative equipment engineering and systems design. It appears we perfectly timed our entrance into the health care foodservices field. The increased financial pressure that many hospitals are undergoing has forced many to centralize and regionalize meal assembly and distribution. In adapting to these changes, Burlodge has been instrumental in helping many of these hospitals revamp their delivery models to successfully meet the demands of timing, budget and staffing resources.
As well, our manufacturing product development team has consistently produced flexible equipment solutions for various healthcare foodservice applications, such as our Novaflex Trayed Meal Delivery System for individual and multi-site cold plating/regeneration applications; the B-Pod nesting system with enclosed tray carrier; the Multigen for Long Term Care Bulk Regeneration and Mobile Servery; and the Ready To Serve (RTS) Meal Distribution Trolley used in Hot Line meal tray service.
In truly achieving our potential, we will continue to strengthen the power of our partnerships. We will continue react to our clients’ needs while also anticipating what the next generation of equipment requires to better manage the demands of patients and residents. Furthermore, we’ll enhance these offerings by developing turnkey programs and services that add the sort of value our clients expect today.
Consider, for example, our Burlodge Kids program (a full-service program specially designed for children’s hospitals), the Go Continental Breakfast Program, our Client Focused Dining initiative (see article inside), as well as our Customer Care Program that features a fully operational Customer Support Team and Call Centre that’s open 24/7. These are just a few measures that we take to be the best in our industry, and we never tire of trying to better position ourselves for the inevitable challenges that are to follow.
Supporting equipment that serves over 43 million meals a year takes a committed team who, together, believe in their ability to make a difference. After 20 short years, we’re proud of our achievements in helping our clients, but in many respects at Burlodge we feel as though we’re just through the first phase (perhaps ‘the first course’ is more appropriate) of what promises to be a long and prosperous run for generations to come.
