5 Years of Quality Service in Winnipeg
On September 10, 2003, a long-standing, very unique client of
Burlodge Canada Ltd. Will celebrate the 5th year of operation
including the use of Burlodge Alphagen Tray Meal Delivery System
equipment.
The client is the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority (WRHA) and
what makes it unique is the fact that the client purchased over
110 Alphagen Retherm Unites and over 450 Angle Racks and Dollies,
5 years ago for use in its centralized model of meal delivery
and service. A centralized plating and ware washing facility was
built in Winnipeg and opened in 1998.
The facility is called the Regional Distribution Facility or
RDF and it is staffed by WRHA food service workers to support
and provide patient and resident food service for many health
care facilities in Winnipeg. From the RDF, chilled meal trays
are assembled to exacting standards specific to each patient’s
and resident’s dietary needs. The trays are transported
safely to the hospitals in refrigerated trucks. The trays are
then placed into the Burlodge Alphagen Retherm Units where, just
prior to meal service, the food that is to be served hot is warmed
safely to reach serving temperatures, while the food that is to
be served cold stays refrigerated and ready to be enjoyed by each
patient or resident.
In the last five years, the WRHA has served over 12 million meals
to patients and residents in the health care facilities throughout
urban Winnipeg, Manitoba, using the Burlodge equipment. That’s
more than 290 times the number of meals that would have been served
to the entire Grey Cup crowd in Winnipeg (34,157 stadium attendance),
1998 (Calgary vs. Edmonton). This is an amazing accomplishment
and they continue to serve meals today at an incredible rate of
0.26 issues submitted per meals served, while respecting high
clinical standards, remaining in the top 1/10 percentile for benchmarked
costs and maintaining a satisfaction rating of over 90%.
The staff of WRHA Food Services has worked hard to ensure quality
meals are delivered to patients and residents. Burlodge Canada
acknowledges the efforts of the entire staff team at the WRHA
and wishes them continued success as they strive toward service
excellence in all they do. They have established and set a best
practice, not only recognized as such in Canada, but globally
as well – they are the Spirit of Excellence
